Hexcel sets for next era as world carbon fiber leader

Hexcel hosted grand opening ceremonies for its 100,000 square foot Center of Research and Technology Excellence in West Valley on March 22nd.

Why it matters

Nick Stanage, president and CEO at Hexcel, lauded the company’s 75-year innovation anniversary and called the new building a critical investment in research and technology, setting the stage for the next 75 years of success. Though he noted the detail and care that went into the state-of-the-art building, Stanage commended ‘the people, our team’ as the real drivers of endless future possibilities.

Director for the Utah Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity, Ryan Starks, praised Hexcel for mirroring the state’s focus on building for the future, predicting that the R & T center would have more than just an immediate economic impact as it provides aspiration for the next generation of builders and creators.

Ribbon cutting attendees toured the laboratory portion of the building, following product journey through research, development, testing, and production. Guests got a peek into Hexcel’s bright, curious culture, open for partnership and collaboration.

“The Utah Aerospace & Defense Association is proud to support Hexcel Corporation and its leadership in providing carbon fiber manufacturing capabilities to the aerospace and defense industries,” said Aaron Starks, president of UADA. “The expansion of the company is proof that Utah continues to provide a safe environment for companies to invest and grow in.”
